Gallaghers Grill review
Gallaghers Grill is owned by Pat Gallagher. He owns two locations on the Northshore; the lakefront and one in Covington by St. Tammany hospital.
The restaurant is very high end and prides itself on quality food. Steaks, fresh fish, decadent sides and desserts are all part of their mantra. As well as a full bar with many drink choices. Wines from Italy and France, beers from overseas, Cognac you can’t find many places, and much more.
My experience there was a great one. I went on Nov. 23 with my family. The appetizer we tried was the Calamari and it was delicious with the sweet sour sauce to dip in. The menu is vast with so many delicious options it is hard to make a final choice. The glass of Pinot Grigio I enjoyed was in a clean glass, filled with no discrepancy.
The ambiance is admirable with the servers dressed professionally as well as the way they took care of the guests. The paintings were authentic and local, bringing a slice of the community into the venue. White tablecloths with candles lit up throughout the restaurant made it warm. Although it is fancy, it is family friendly, as Mr. Gallagher is a family man himself.
The main dish was a petite filet, cream spinach, mashed potatoes, and macaroni and cheese. All cooked to perfection. The steak comes out on a piping hot plate to help you cook it to your exact liking. The other guests ordered a seared tuna dish, which looked amazing, and a grilled redfish dish with blue crab on the side. Which also looked and smelled delicious.
For dessert we got a special treat as we told them we were there for a birthday. Creme Brulee with fresh fruit on top, with the words written happy birthday for an extra special feeling of welcomeness.
On OpenTable Gallaghers has a review of five stars. It lists the three top dishes as white chocolate bread pudding, turtle soup, and key lime pie. Diners think it has good service, is good for a date or special occasion.
Mandy Suez wrote a review, “Excellent service and food. It was our wedding anniversary and when we checked in the staff was so kind and happy we joined them for our special occasion.”
Another review said, “Highly recommend, great food and service. Quality steaks my family and I enjoy.”
I agree with these statements, it was overall an amazing indulgent experience. I highly recommend this restaurant for an evening out or special occasion. The employees treated us like royalty, 10 out of 10 rating.
